Komodo Dragon   Scientific Name: Varanus komodoensis

Komodo Dragons are named after the name of the Asian island where they live, Komodo. Komodo dragons use venom* to kill and eat their prey. Komodo Dragons are the world's largest lizard reaching an amazing 10.3 feet. The venom is stored in the komodo dragon's teeth. Komodo Dragons are endangered because their eggs are being stolen. Komodo Dragons are amazing swimmers. They can swim from One island to another. During reproductinve season, female lays 15-30 eggs in the hole in the ground.

Territory: Asian islands

Food: Invertebrates (sometimes small komodo dragons, or sometimes their own young), and larger animals.
