African Elephant       Gemus: Loxodonta

On an African safari, you may see ostriches, hippos - and the largest land animal - the African Elephant. You can tell An African Elephant from An Asian Elephant by looking at their ears. An African elephant's ears are much bigger than an Asian elephant's - that African Elephants use their ears as fans to cool down heat. However, African Elephants are in danger because poachers are killing them for elephant tusks, and the habitat is being cut down. 50% of African elephant subspecies are extinct.
